Sunday open thread: Grade the Lions' 53-man roster

Now that the Detroit Lions have selected their 53-man roster, let's grade it.

The long wait is nearly over. The Detroit Lions will kick off their regular season in just one week from today. After Saturday's crazy day of cuts, the Lions have established their 53-man roster. There were some surprises, there was some confusion and, as always, there was some anger. But after all was said and done, the Lions made more expected moves than surprising ones.

So today's Question of the Day is:

What grade do you give the Lions' 53-man roster?

Here's a look at it as a reminder:

Players currently on roster: 53
QB Matthew Stafford TE Eric Ebron DE Ziggy Ansah CB Darius Slay
QB Dan Orlovsky TE Cole Wick DE Devin Taylor CB Nevin Lawson
TE Orson Charles DE Wallace Gilberry CB Quandre Diggs
RB Ameer Abdullah DE Brandon Copeland CB Johnson Bademosi
RB Theo Riddick OT Riley Reiff DE Anthony Zettel CB Adairius Barnes
RB Zach Zenner OT Taylor Decker
RB Dwayne Washington OT Cornelius Lucas DT Haloti Ngata S Glover Quin
OT Corey Robinson DT Tyrunn Walker S Rafael Bush
FB Michael Burton DT A'Shawn Robinson S Tavon Wilson
OG Laken Tomlinson DT Khyri Thornton S Miles Killebrew
WR Marvin Jones OG Larry Warford DT Stefan Charles S Don Carey
WR Golden Tate OG Joe Dahl DT Kerry Hyder
WR Anquan Boldin K Matt Prater
WR Andre Roberts C Travis Swanson LB DeAndre Levy
C Graham Glasgow LB Tahir Whitehead P Sam Martin
LB Josh Bynes
LB Kyle Van Noy LS Don Muhlbach
LB Antwione Williams
LB Jon Bostic

My answer: Considering the 90-man roster this team had, this is a pretty solid B+ crew. I love that Bob Quinn was willing to turn the page on developmental projects that didn't seem to be budding. I honestly think keeping two quarterbacks was the right move, and I believe Jake Rudock can and should make it to the practice squad.

My biggest questions with the roster are at wide receiver and cornerback. While I suspected Andre Roberts would make the final 53, I had no idea he would be essentially the only non-starter on the roster. I imagine this will change before the start of the regular season, but it's still a little surprising to see. The Lions are similarly shorthanded at cornerback, and the fact that UDFA Adairius Barnes still has me in shock.

Outside of those two positions, I'm actually very happy with the cuts that were made, and I look forward to seeing how Quinn will tinker with the roster and fill out the practice squad.

Your turn.
