The Detroit Lions are in the playoffs. Thanks to a Washington loss, the Lions are guaranteed to finish with at least the six seed in the NFC.
But they aren’t thinking about that right now.
The Green Bay Packers also clinched a playoff spot today.
But they aren’t thinking about that right now.
The Lions and Packers will face off in about 30 minutes. The winner will take the NFC North crown and host the New York Giants in the first round of the playoffs. The loser will tuck their tail between their legs and head to Seattle to face off against the Seahawks.
For Detroit, this means much more than just clinching a home playoff game. They have a 23-year division title drought and the Packers are a big reason for that. In 2014, Green Bay prevented the Lions from winning the NFC North by defeating them in Week 17. Tonight, the Lions could exact their revenge.
The Packers are hoping to clinch their fifth division in six years. Back when Green Bay was 4-6, this seemed impossible, but the Packers are one win away from finishing the regular season on a six-game winning streak.
The only team that can stop them is the Detroit Lions. Let’s kick this game off, already.
