For the second year in a row, the NFL is relocating a team to Los Angeles. Reports leaked on Wednesday night that the San Diego Chargers will be moving to Los Angeles for the 2017 season, following the St. Louis Rams, who made their move last season to the City of Angels. With talk about moving the Oakland Raiders to Las Vegas, relocation seems like it’s becoming a regular thing in today’s NFL.
There aren’t any indications that the Detroit Lions are close to moving anywhere anytime soon, but let’s play with the hypothetical for a moment. Today’s Question of the Day is:
Would you still support the Detroit Lions if they moved away from Detroit?
My answer: The move would absolutely disgust me. This is, and always will be the Detroit Lions. But I’d be kidding myself if I said I would abandon the team. I’m a man that doesn’t have must self-restraint, and as much as I hate the NFL at times, I’m hooked on it. I can’t imagine rooting for another team, so I would stick with the Lions no matter where they are. I already root for them from afar, so logistically it wouldn’t be any different than my current fandom. However, I was born in Detroit, and it would take awhile for me to lose the feeling of betrayal.
Your turn.
