After the Detroit Lions’ loss to the Green Bay Packers last week, it seems like the wind is out of the Lions fandom sails. Another missed opportunity at a division title and a home playoff game has fans frustrated and defeatist.
But the Lions’ season is not over yet. Thanks to an extra hand from the New York Giants, the Lions are still alive and still have an opportunity to pick up their first playoff win since the 1991 season.
In their way is a Seattle Seahawks team that is feeling a little downtrodden themselves. The injury to Earl Thomas has transformed this elite defense into something much more fallible now, and because of it, the Seahawks no longer feel like the unbeatable behemoth of the past few seasons.
The last time the Lions traveled to CenturyLink Field, they were robbed of a game they were inches from winning, and you can bet that that game still lingers in some of the Lions players’ minds as they make their way to Seattle this weekend. They’ll get their shot at revenge on Saturday night, and it could end up being much, much sweeter.
