The Detroit Lions announced Friday evening they would be without starting center Travis Swanson, but that was just the tip of the bad news iceberg. Riley Reiff, who has been battling a hip injury for a week, is also inactive for Saturday’s game.
The Lions will need all the help they can get along the offensive line. Reiff’s availability would’ve been huge, as the Lions placed backup right tackle Corey Robinson on injured reserve last week. With elite pass rushers in Cliff Avril and Michael Bennett on the other side of the ball, the Lions will have to rely on either third-stringer Cornelius Lucas or Garrett Reynolds, who was picked up this week.
Andre Roberts, who was also listed as questionable, is active. Roberts isn’t expected to make much of an impact on offense, but as the team’s specialized returner, the Lions will get an extra boost on special teams with him in the lineup.
