The bye week can be just as valued by the fans as it can be the players. Sure the fans don’t have any literal injuries they need to recover from during the week off, but fandom, as silly as it sounds, can suffer some emotional wounds.
For Detroit Lions fans, it has been a rollercoaster of a season already. You’d think we’d be used to this already—seeing as though this team just took us through the most comeback wins in NFL history just a year ago—but every year we seem to have an emotional journey that isn’t quite like any other.
The bye week can be sweet relief from an overburdening weekly three hours of emotion. So today’s Question of the Day is:
Will you be watching any football on Sunday during the Lions’ bye week?
My answer: Yes. My name is Jeremy and I’m a football junkie. (Hi, Jeremy.)
Thankfully, I can peacefully watch football this week without documenting every second of it, but just because I won’t be technically working doesn’t mean I can escape football’s clutches on my soul.
How could I not watch football when the Vikings have a huge game against Ravens? What, am I supposed to not see how a Brett Hundley led Packers teams holds up against a Saints team that dominated the Lions last week? How does one pass on the opportunity to see if the Bears could actually be true contenders in the division as they host the Panthers?
Football has got a hold on me, and rather than fight it, I just acquiesce. Because in just over two months, it will all be gone for another seven months.
