Tuesday open thread: Do you think the Lions will make a trade before the deadline?

The trade deadline is today. Are the Lions going to make a move?

The NFL trade deadline tends to be one of the most overhyped moments on the NFL schedule. However, Monday saw two uncharacteristically big trades in the league. The Patriots sent quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo to the San Francisco 49ers for a second-round pick. While the Seahawks made an aggressive move, trading for Texans left tackle Duane Brown by sending cornerback Jeremy Lane, a second-round (2019) and a fifth-round (2018) pick.

The Detroit Lions have been one of the teams that have been hotly rumored to be active this trade deadline. Rumors have already popped up that teams are interested in both Eric Ebron and Calvin Johnson.

While we’ve yet to hear whether the Lions would necessarily be interested in shipping one or both of those players, Pro Football Talk Ebron was “almost surely” to be traded.

So today’s Question of the Day is:

Do you think the Lions will make a trade before the deadline? If so, predict what it will look like.

My answer: I have never seen rumors so hot that the Lions will be sending a player like Ebron away. While Bob Quinn doesn’t seem like the kind of general manager that would allow that news to slip, it does make a lot of sense to ship Ebron at this point in this career.

While I think it’s really more of a 50/50 shot whether Ebron stays or goes, I do think he’ll eventually get traded. I won’t guess which team will get him, but I think the Lions will get somewhere around a fourth or fifth-round pick for him. It’s not great value for a former 10th overall pick, but I don’t see any other team shelling out more than that.

Your turn.
