Week 5 in the NFL is here and your Detroit Lions are currently the No. 2 seed in the NFC. Take a minute to soak that in and enjoy it. The NFL season is fleeting and before you know it, it’ll be over. There’s no shame in savoring it and taking pride in it. Has the team accomplished what it wants to in 2017? Of course not. But if we can’t celebrate while the getting’s good, what’s the point in waiting eight, football-less months?
Anyways, there’s football on tonight between the New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Patriots are doing their typical “uh oh, it’s early. Maybe we’re finally going to suck this year” thing. Don’t get played by it. They’ll still win the East by a couple games. Sorry, Bills fans.
The Buccaneers are a week behind the rest of the league, and we have no idea who they are. They’ve beaten a Giants and Bears team, who have combined for a 1-7 record. Sandwiched in the middle was a pretty big loss to the 2-2 Vikings.
Thursday is a huge prove-it game for the Bucs. While the Patriots aren’t exactly the worldbeaters everyone was expecting them to be this year, they’re still the best coached team with one of the best quarterbacks in NFL history.
So sit back, fire up Amazon Prime on your nearest electronic device, and enjoy some Thursday Night Football.
