Alright, I get it, today isn’t one of those days where I can rag on college football because like the biggest game of the year, whether Spartan or Wolverine fans like to admit it, is upon us. Luckily, it’s a 7:30 p.m. ET start, so that leaves you plenty of time to watch our Madden simulation of the Week 5 matchup between the Detroit Lions and the Carolina Panthers!
This week’s simulation should be a doozy, a humdinger, an absolute slobberknocker, if you will. The 3-1 Panthers travel to Motown, the birthplace of Vernon’s soda pop, to take on the 3-1 Detroit Lions. The Panthers are riding high after a victory last week against the New England Patriots in Foxborough, but their team is dealing quite a few injuries. Tight end Greg Olsen (92 overall) and Ryan Kalil (80)—the team’s starting center—are both out for Sunday’s tilt against the Lions.
Let’s shift our focus to what the Panthers do have on the field because they have some pretty good pieces. Their defense, and especially their front-seven, is quite the unit, led by some of the top players in the league.
It all starts up front with a talented group along the defensive line. Kawann Short (88) is a presence each and every week, and he’s flanked by Mario Addison (81) and the ever familiar, and forever submerged in the fountain of youth, Julius Peppers (81) on the edges. Luke Kuechly (98) is the anchor for Carolina’s defense at the second level, and one of the best linebackers in the league. Thomas Davis Sr. (85) is a veteran linebacker who is stout against the run and can hold his own in coverage.
Be sure to jump over to our live stream starting at 10:30 a.m. ET to keep up with the conversation and join a bunch of us who love to watch Madden be Madden. Also, these things are finally available On Demand through Twitch, so if you can’t make the live broadcast, no biggie, you have 14 days to go back and check out all the action you missed out on.
Once the clock strikes 10:30, the stream will begin below.
It’s Detroit Lions vs. Carolina Panthers. This time, it’s (not) for real.
