The Detroit Lions defensive line may have taken another hit against the Carolina Panthers. Late in the second quarter, veteran defensive tackle Haloti Ngata left the field holding his arm. The 33-year-old veteran was then quickly shuffled back into the locker room.
The Detroit Lions have announced that Ngata is questionable to return with an official elbow injury.
Ngata was having a pretty good game prior to his injury. He picked up a sack earlier in the game, his second of the year. Akeem Spence immediately took his place along the starting defensive line unit. To start the second half, Spence and rookie Jeremiah Ledbetter started in the middle of the defensive line.
The Lions defense struggled throughout the first half of the game, allowing 243 yards and 17 points to the Panthers offense while generating little pass rush. We will continue to provide updates as we get more information.
