Sunday could potentially be a huge day for the Detroit Lions. While they currently sit a few games behind a playoff spot in the NFC postseason race, a lot of ground can be made up in a single day. The Vikings have a tough matchup against a fellow NFC contender. The Seahawks and Falcons will beat up on each other. The Cowboys, Packers and Washington—three teams in the midst of the wild card race—all have challenging Week 11 games.
If the Lions are looking to make a move in the playoff standings, this would be a good week to do it.
Because in just a few days now, the Detroit Lions have a huge Thanksgiving Day showdown against the first-place Minnesota Vikings. But Detroit can’t look too far ahead, because they have a tough matchup this week in Chicago.
The Bears are 3-6 and essentially out of the playoff race, but they’ve given just about every opponent fits this year. Led by a smothering defense, Chicago has picked up big wins over the Panthers, Steelers and Ravens this year. They nearly kicked off the season with a huge upset over the Falcons, too.
The Bears may be 0-3 in the division so far, but they’re 2-3 at Soldier Field, and Detroit always seems to have trouble winning there. It’s not exactly a must-win for the Lions, but Detroit can only afford one or two more slipups for the rest of the season, and this wouldn’t be a good week to burn one of those.
The Lions are back on FOX this week, and, yes, that means Chris Spielman is back on the broadcast, along with his play-by-play partner Thom Brennaman. Here’s all of the other gameday information you need to know.
