Ezekiel Ansah missed his sixth straight practice with a back injury and is officially listed as OUT for Sunday’s game. This is the second week in a row Ansah will miss a game, after starting for the first eight games despite a knee injury.
Last week, Anthony Zettel and Cornelius Washington stepped up to the plate and combined for 3.0 sacks against the Browns. They’ll look to replicate such a performance this week, along with newly added Kasim Edebali, who will be expected to contribute immediately, despite only practicing twice with the team.
Dwayne Washington also missed Friday’s practice and is also out this week. In his place, the Lions will likely play Zach Zenner, who has been inactive on game days ever since Washington returned from a previous injury in Week 8. Rookie Tion Green is also an option, however he has yet to make a game appearance.
The Lions struggled to defend the run last week, but they may have some reinforcements against the Bears. Rookie linebacker Jalen Reeves-Maybin is listed as questionable for Sunday’s game, but was once again limited in practice on Friday. He’s likely headed for game-time decision.
For the Bears, they have several players listed as questionable for Sunday, including star linebacker Danny Trevathan. Trevathan missed practice again on Friday and seems unlikely to play. Last week, he was given the same questionable designation and was not able to give it a go against the Packers.
However, Chicago will be getting guard Kyle Long back this week, as he was not given an official injury designation and was a full participant in Friday’s practice.
