Lions-Vikings Week 12 inactives: Ziggy IN, Freeney OUT

New, comments

The Lions are getting Ezekiel Ansah back, but Dwight Freeney’s debut will have to wait.

NFL: Minnesota Vikings at Detroit Lions Raj Mehta-USA TODAY Sports

The Detroit Lions desperately needed some help along the defensive line considering their most recent performances against the Browns and Bears. The team made an aggressive move this week, plucking veteran Dwight Freeney from the waivers after the Seahawks surprisingly cut him. Unfortunately, as previously reported, Freeney will not be ready in time for Thursday’s game and has been declared inactive by the Lions.

However, Detroit will be getting some defensive reinforcements back this week. Both Ezekiel Ansah and Jalen Reeves-Maybin—listed as questionable on Wednesday—are ACTIVE and will play against the Minnesota Vikings. Both players have missed the past two games, and perhaps not coincidentally, those two games happened to be some of the worst defensive performances by the Lions this season.

As expected, running back Zach Zenner is active for an injured Dwayne Washington, while Golden Tate, TJ Jones and Ameer Abdullah are expected to cover returning duties with Jamal Agnew out this week.

For the Vikings, they enter Thanksgiving Day almost completely healthy. However, right tackle Mike Remmers will NOT play after missing a few games due to a concussion. [Note: Previous versions of this article reported Remmers will play. Pride of Detroit regrets the error]

Defenders Brian Robison and Andrew Sendejo are both active despite being listed as questionable on Wednesday.
