Several Detroit Lions were fined in the aftermath of a late skirmish against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday night.
The fight started after the Lions went hard off the snap on a play in which the Steelers were obviously going to take a knee. Things escalated after Steelers center Maurkice Pouncey threw a palm into the face of Lions defensive tackle A’Shawn Robinson:

Robinson responded by throwing a few punches of his own, resulting in a personal foul penalty and an ejection.
But, interestingly enough, neither Robinson nor Pouncey were among those fined after the game. Instead, a handful of Lions players were docked pay because they left the sidelines to join in. Here’s the breakdown according to Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press:
- DJ Hayden - $3,037
- Jeremiah Valoaga - $3,037
- Charles Washington - $3037
In addition to those three, Quandre Diggs was fined $24,309 for his personal foul penalty after leading with the crown of his helmet on a hit that made contact with tight end Jesse James’ facemask.
On the Steelers side, no player was fined for the scuffled at the end of the game, but safety Sean Davis faced an identical $24,309 fine as Diggs for a similar hit against Marvin Jones Jr. that drew a flag for unnecessary roughness.
