After a day off, the Detroit Lions were back at it on Wednesday, preparing for their Week 10 game against the Cleveland Browns. With only one day between their last game and their first official practice, Detroit’s injury report was a little more lengthy than normal.
Ezekiel Ansah and Jalen Reeves-Maybin were out of practice on Wednesday. Ansah has been questionable every single week with a lingering knee injury, but was listed with a new back injury on Wednesday.
As for Reeves-Maybin, the rookie linebacker played in nine defensive snaps last week, ahead of veteran linebacker Paul Worrilow. He is apparently dealing with a ankle injury, but because Worrilow is now healthy again, Detroit won’t be too shorthanded if the rookie can’t go this week.
In better news, Kenny Golladay practiced again on Wednesday and was limited participant. He has now practiced in two straight games and appears on track to play against the Browns.
Left tackle Greg Robinson also returned to practice after missing two straight games with an ankle injury. He was still limited on Wednesday, but if he can return this week, it’ll leave the Lions with an interesting situation. Brian Mihalik has played at an acceptable level at left tackle over the past two games, while Robinson struggled when he was healthy.
The other factor here is Taylor Decker, who is practicing for the second straight week, but remains on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list. Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press believes there’s a good chance Decker returns to the roster this week:
No, but still think chances are pretty good that Taylor Decker is back this week. https://t.co/8j6yzLUS54— Dave Birkett (@davebirkett) November 7, 2017
If Decker is activated, there’s no question that he’ll be the starter. However, if he’s still a week away, the Lions will face an interesting decision between Robinson and Mihalik.
For the Browns, Myles Garrett was not even listed on the injury report after missing Week 8’s game with a concussion. Cleveland is coming off their bye, and they actually had full participation on Wednesday. However, a few starters—including DT Jamar Taylor and CB Jason McCourty—were limited with injuries that held them out last game.
