Lions-Bears injury report: Detroit missing 3 starting offensive linemen in Tuesday practice

Because of the shortened week, the Detroit Lions didn’t have their normal Tuesday day off to recuperate from Sunday’s game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Instead, they were back at practice preparing for Saturday’s game against the Chicago Bears.

Unfortunately, the Lions were without three of their potential starting offensive lineman on Tuesday. Rick Wagner remained out after suffering an ankle injury in Week 13 against the Ravens. Travis Swanson was held out after suffering postgame concussion symptoms following Sunday’s game against the Bucs. And T.J. Lang was back on the injury report with a foot injury that had him out for a couple days of practice last week. Lang was eventually able to play against Tampa, so his injury is likely the least concerning.

However, the injuries to Wagner and Swanson are worrisome considering this offensive line is coming off a performance in which they allowed zero sacks for the first time in over two years. Last time the Lions faced the Bears, they got to Matthew Stafford three times.

To make matter worse, left tackle Taylor Decker has also been added to the injury report. He was limited on Tuesday with a shoulder injury.

But the Lions got better news elsewhere. Ameer Abdullah was a full participant in practice despite missing the past two weeks with a neck injury. Additionally, Jamal Agnew practiced in full for the first time since suffering a knee injury against the Bears. The Lions have missed his punt and kick return abilities, and he could be a big boost this week.

No one was out for the Chicago Bears on Tuesday, but several players were limited in participation, including tight end Adam Shaheen and nose tackle Eddie Goldman. Goldman missed last week’s game against the Bengals with the same hip injury.
