Here we are again. It’s that time of the season where Lions play the Bears for the second time. Only this time, the Lions are taking the Bears on at home and I already told you all the history in the first go around. So what are we going to do?
We could sit here all day and I can tell you how “Ram It” is a much better song than “the Super Bowl Shuffle,” but I think we’ll just do this Random Stats all special like and make it all about the social media stuff.
To the social media stuff!
How many left handed qbs have been active in the history of the Lions-Bears rivalry?
— Steve Daniels (@danie158) December 13, 2017
Okay, we’re starting off with a hard one. There have only been a finite amount for left-handed quarterbacks in NFL history. Three of them have started games in this rivalry. Bobby Douglass started seven games for Chicago against the Lions from 1969 to 1974.
Scott Mitchell started seven games for the Lions and Cade McNown started two games for the Bears.
In honor of Devin Hester, how many return yards/tds has he scored against us?
— Tyler E. McNamara (@TMac715) December 13, 2017
I hate you, Devin. I’m just kidding. Congrats to Devin Hester on a great career. I wish you the best in your retired life and whatever you’re going to do from here.
As for return yards. Hester racked up 998 kick return yards and 480 punt return yards. You’ll be surprised to know that Hester only had one return touchdown against the Lions. Way back in 2007, he took one to the crib, but the Bears lost 37-27.
How many Different QBs have started for Chicago against Detroit when Stafford started for the Lions?
— Jim Heikkinen (@JimHeikkinen1) December 14, 2017
More than I initially thought. Jay Cutler obviously started the majority of these games. But Jimmy Clausen, Mitchell Trubisky, Josh McCown, Brian Hoyer and Matt Barkley are the only others. That’s a lot more than it seems like. So I guess the answer is six.
Who was the shortest Head Coach, in height, between the two teams ever? POW! Super Random!
— Marc (@hXcMarc) December 14, 2017
Sadly, there is no way to figure this out. so I’ll guess Jim Caldwell is about 6-foot-7 and John Fox is 4-foot-9. So I’ll go with John Fox.
I want to know what the 4Q rushing YPC is for all of the backs expected to be active...
— Coach Tom Peck (@Tpeck2) December 14, 2017
It’s bad. Ameer Abdullah is averaging 3.8 YPC, Theo Riddick is 1.5 YPC, Tion Green is 2.0 YPC and Zac Zenner is 0.2 YPC.
On the Bears side, Jordan Howard is averaging 3.8 YPC, Tarik Cohen is 5.3 YPC and Benny Cunningham is 3.2 YPC.
How man 100 yard rushers in a game has Chicago had since we had ours last
— Fire Caldwell (@FeighnerThanYou) December 14, 2017
Why do we have to do this to ourselves? Why?!!!!!
Since the Lions last 100-yard rusher, which was four years ago, the Bears have had 20. Geez, man. 20! 12 of them are by Jordan Howard, including his 147-yard performance last week against the Bengals.
How many different jerseys have each team worn against each other?
— poopdongokon suh (@gameofdabs) December 14, 2017
Interesting. According to The Gridiron Uniform database, both the Lions and Bears have changed their jerseys in some way shape or form a ton of times. Like, almost every single year. Take a look at the Lions jerseys here and the Bears here.
Lions record vs bears in Ford Field
— Blake Berry (@IdahoSignBoss) December 14, 2017
The Lions are currently 9-5 against the Bears in the comfy confines of Ford Field. In fact, they haven’t lost to the Bears at Ford Field since 2012. Which brings us to our final question of the day...
exactly what percentage of the Chicago Bears is owned by the Detroit Lions?
— Mansur (@MansurShaheen) December 14, 2017
The Lions currently own 79% of the Bears. They have an opportunity to put their final payment in the books this Saturday. We’ll see if they can totally pay it off then.
