Lions-Packers Week 17 first half open thread

It all boils down to this.

The Detroit Lions season is about four hours from being over. That’s a pretty sad statement to write, especially after this team got out to an exciting 3-1 start. At that point, it looked like Detroit could not only make the playoffs but potentially win their first NFC North crown.

But things quickly fell apart, and instead of talking about a huge rivalry game to finish the season, we’re formulating a coaching wishlist. It’s a sad state of affairs considering the Lions entered 2017 with two playoff appearances in their last three years, but some deem it necessary for this franchise to take the next step.

Nothing is set in stone yet—as a lone NFL Network report remains the only evidence that Caldwell is done, but the writing does appear to be on the wall. Still, this is our last opportunity to catch Lions football before we’re engulfed by the joyless abyss that is the offseason.

Join us in the hopes that the Lions can pick up a meaningless sweep over the Green Bay Packers this New Year’s Eve.
