The New England Patriots are undoubtedly the most hated team in the NFL right now. There have been a handful of scandals surround the franchise over the past few years, their coaching staff is extremely secretive and off-putting towards the media and, worst of all, they just can’t stop winning.
It’s hard not to hate a team that has been so unbelievably good for so long. They seem to hold the secret to the league, yet whenever anyone tries to crack the code with a former Patriots employee, they just can’t get it done. New England has owned this league for nearly two decades now, and they won’t share it with anyone else.
So today’s Question of the Day is:
Do you hate the New England Patriots?
My answer: No, I think hate is the wrong word for me, because, in truth, I admire them. I absolutely love the way Bill Belichick runs the team. He has no problem shutting down reporters who ask dumb questions, he only reveals things he wants to, and he is so tirelessly devoted to his job that he seems completely unfazed by any distraction out there.
However, I am entirely sick of the franchise. I want the dynasty to end. I want to see Boston and their fans fail. I just want someone else in the AFC East to get a shot. It has gotten to a point where I don’t even recognize Tom Brady as a former Wolverine anymore. I want to see that guy go through some real adversity, and I’m not talking about four-game suspension slaps on the wrists, or an "I-lost-in-the-Super-Bowl" type of sob-story. I’m talking 3-13 season with no offensive line, a defense that can’t stop Jared Goff from completing 80 percent of his passes and receivers that drop the ball five times a game. I want him to see what it’s like to be one of the other 31 quarterbacks in the league, because surely he has forgotten by now.
Go Falcons.
Your turn.
