Former Detroit Lions tight end Brandon Pettigrew was arrested in Oklahoma City over the Super Bowl weekend and charged with disorderly conduct and public drunkenness, according to local news sources.
According to the reports, police were called to the Pretty Please Social Room after a patron (Pettigrew) refused to leave. Pettigrew was reportedly with some friends and after repeated requests for him to leave and some shoving of his friends, he was arrested by Oklahoma City police.
Be aware police accounts should never be taken as gospel and details may be challenged if the situation goes to trial. Regardless, Pettigrew made bond and was released from county jail on Sunday.
Brandon Pettigrew was cut by the Lions back in late 2016 even though it appeared he was ready to come off of the injured reserve list. In December 2015, he tore his ACL for the third time in his career. Pettigrew’s release was a clear sign the Lions were moving on from him, and after this incident, it’s almost certain he will not return to Detroit.
