Wednesday open thread: Who would you like to see the Lions go after in free agency?

After a quiet first day, who would you like to see the Detroit Lions go after aggressively on Wednesday?

Detroit Lions v Chicago Bears

The first day of the legal tampering period is in the books for the 2017 free agency period. For the Detroit Lions, things were awfully quiet. They’ve been linked to just four lower-tier free agents and brought back just two minor players on defense.

Fans are still waiting for a few dominoes to fall. For example, it’s eerily quiet on the Lions’ offensive front. There haven’t been any rumors swirling around Riley Reiff nor Larry Warford. Additionally, Detroit hasn’t been linked to any of the high profile free agents yet.

But Wednesday is another day, and as we get closer to the true beginning of free agency, deadlines will spur action, as Andrew Brandt likes to say.

So today’s Question of the Day is:

Who would you like to see the Lions pursue on Wednesday?

My answer: I’d love to see them come to terms with Riley Reiff as soon as possible. At this point, I think bringing back Reiff should be the highest priority for the team. There is no backup plan on the roster if Reiff goes, which means they’d likely have to get in a bidding war for a free agent on the market, none of which provide a significant upgrade from Reiff. Reiff already knows the system, knows his teammates and provides versatility on both sides of the line.

I think the silence surrounding Reiff is actually a pretty good sign that he isn’t fielding offers from various teams. Hopefully, the Lions are simply hammering out details behind the scenes and nearing a final deal. After all, the Lions are pretty good at keeping a lid on these kind of things:

Your turn.
