The Baltimore Ravens are on the clock and their acting general manager tjwGOblue has handed in his ticket. With the 16th pick in the Pride Of Detroit Community Mock Draft, the Ravens have selected offensive tackle Ryan Ramczyk from Wisconsin. Below is tjwGOblue’s reasoning for the pick:
“The Ravens have started their offseason by retooling their defense with some nice veteran free agents but the offense remains a work in progress.
With Rick Wagner departing to our very own Lions, the Ravens could use a replacement on the right side of their offensive line. So Ozzie Newsome and his crew look to the dairy hills of Wisconsin again and find Ryan Ramczyk, who is arguably the top offensive tackle in this draft class. Ramczyk is a big boy already at 6-foot-6 and 311 pounds, but some scouts think he still has room to add even more weight to his frame. Scouts love his technique, fluidity and scheme versatility.
His biggest knock is his lack of playing experience as he played two years at University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point before transferring to University of Wisconsin-Madison. He transitioned fine and ended up All-Big Ten in his one year at Madison but scouts question his love of the game as he took a convoluted path to get where we are today.
Ramczyk would give the Ravens two bookend tackles on team friendly rookie controlled contracts for a while, as they rebuild the rest of the offense.”
