With the 19th pick in the Pride Of Detroit Community Mock Draft, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have selected running back Dalvin Cook out of Florida State. The acting general manager for the Bucs is POD commenter JustWinginIt. Below is the reasoning for the pick.
“My goal in the first round was to draft a player who will step in and immediately help this team. When looking at the offseason at this point, Tampa is facing a decision to be made regarding Doug Martin, whose contract is surrounded by uncertainty. With a healthy legitimate RB1, Tampa was a top five rushing attack in 2015. However, they used six different running backs last year and fell nearly 20 spots in that ranking.
Insert Dalvin Cook and his career 6.5 yards per carry. Once thought to have the potential of a top 5 pick, I still think he'll end up having the best career out of the big three running backs taken up to this point. I may have held out for a different running back if this draft went three or four rounds deep, however I think there is tremendous second-round depth at a couple other positions, so I opted for the potential franchise back.”
