Sunday open thread: If you could ask Bob Quinn one question, what would it be?

What do you want to know about Bob Quinn before the Lions’ 2017 draft?

NFL: Combine Brian Spurlock-USA TODAY Sports

The NFL Draft is now less than four weeks away and intrigue of the Detroit Lions’ strategy is growing by the day. General manager Bob Quinn has already received a lot of praise this offseason for all of the money and time being spent on scouting and other pre-draft resources.

Whether all of that time and effort will pay off is still yet to be seen. Quinn has spoken to the media a few times this offseason and has been fairly candid with his responses. He made headlines with his surprising plea to allow players like Joe Mixon to attend the NFL Combine. However, you could see during last week’s meeting with media in Arizona that the Lions general manager is starting tighten up his responses and is slipping into non-reveal mode.

So today’s Question of the Day is:

If you could ask Bob Quinn one question and were assured a truthful answer, what would it be?

My answer: I would ask Bob Quinn one, simple question: What do you think you’re doing as general manager that puts the Lions at a distinct advantage over other NFL teams? In other words, I would love to know what strategies Quinn is using that are ahead of his time or cutting edge. I’m confident that Quinn is doing a good job when it comes to building through the draft and free agency, but it’s unclear what exactly he’s doing that other teams may not be.

If I were given a second question, I’d ask him how confident he really is in Jim Caldwell, because, come on, you know there’s at least part of him that wants “his” head coach running the team.

Your turn.
