2017 NFL Draft: Lions players react to selection of Jarrad Davis

New, comments

Lions players—and one player’s wife—were excited for Detroit’s first-round pick.

The 2017 NFL Draft is a spectacle for all. Even though many current players say they don’t watch, social media platforms like Twitter and Instagram say otherwise. There were plenty of active Detroit Lions on social media Thursday night when the Detroit Lions selected Jarrad Davis with the 21st overall pick.

In fact, before the Lions were even on the clock A’Shawn Robinson was not happy with the way the board was falling (this Tweet has since been deleted):

At this point in the draft, no players from Alabama—Robinson’s alma mater—had been taken. It took until pick 16 for the first Crimson Tide player to come off the board.

Once Davis was selected by the Lions, Robinson seemed much happier.

In fact, a lot of players on the Lions defense tweeted out their excitement:

912 is a reference to an area code in Georgia. Darius Slay grew up in Brunswick, Georgia, while Davis is from Kingsland, a mere 40 miles away.

Tahir Whitehead is likely to be the player alongside Davis on defense, and while Tahir didn’t have anything specific to say, his wife chimed in:

A few players on offense were excited by the pick, too:

But perhaps the greatest reaction to the Lions’ draft pick came from our own Pride Of Detroit crew. Skip to the 21:00 mark below to see how Alex Reno, Chris Lemieux, Ryan Mathews and Andrew Kato reacted in pick:
