The Pride Of Detroit Community Mock Draft kicked off this weekend. The Cleveland Browns have the first pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. Serving as general manager for the Browns is commenter Boney.

With the first pick in the POD Community Mock Draft, the Cleveland Browns have selected defensive end Myles Garrett out of Texas A&M.

Here is Boney’s rationale for his pick:

“Much like the 0-16 Lions back in 2008, the Cleveland Browns need talent. The organization has been among the top teams in available salary cap space the past two offseasons, not to mention 26 draft picks in the last two NFL drafts. They are a team that has needs at every position, except interior offensive line and left tackle. You can't miss on the No. 1 pick and ever hope to pull yourself out of the hole they're in.

Myles Garrett is a stud defensive lineman that fits the mold of Julius Peppers. He's 6-foot-5, 270+ pounds of athleticism who should dominate the left side of offensive lines for the next 10-12 years of his career. He can play with his hand down as a 4-3 end or stand up as an edge rusher in the mold of DeMarcus Ware. The Browns need a quarterback, but Garrett has all the tools to be a franchise changing talent that can cover up weaknesses of his teammates until the team is able to fill those holes.”

For all first round picks in our community draft, we will have an approval poll to see if the community believes it to be a good pick. So let’s kick it off. What do you think of Boney’s pick?
