The hype train surrounding the new Detroit Lions uniforms is picking up speed. The unveiling is just a little more than a week away (April 13) and with last week’s leak of the potential design, the excitement is palpable.
Of course, there is a group of cynical fans that see the uniform change as merely a cash grab, and that’s an understandable viewpoint. It hasn’t even been 10 years since the Lions last changed their logo. Back in 2009, they added details to their old “Bubbles” lion, creating a whole new line of Lions apparel to buy. And their black “Color Rush” jerseys from last year—which they sold all season on their official website—are already getting scrapped, despite the fact that the team never wore them.
The new uniforms, whether needed or not, will be available to purchase immediately, according to team president Rod Wood:
They'll be exclusively available at The Stadium Collection on the evening of 4/13, but available to purchase online the following morning. https://t.co/nyVbZpTbPi

So today’s Question of the Day is:
Will you be purchasing a new Lions jersey with the new uniform design?
My answer: No. Never. Never, ever, ever again. For too long I have treated the Jeremy Reisman Jersey Curse (JRJC) as a silly joke I willingly went along with. But after DeAndre Levy’s release last month, it is clear the JRJC is real. For the rest of my Lions fandom, I will have to settle with wearing a knockoff Matthew Stafford jersey (it was purchased several years ago, don’t worry. I have established unofficial jerseys are not subject to the JRJC.). It would be neat to have a new jersey, especially if I end up liking the design, but I am willing to make this sacrifice for the good of the team.
Your turn.
