The Detroit Lions made their 10th free agent signing (not including their own) on Monday when they inked linebacker Nick Bellore to a one-year deal. Of those ten signings, six were on defense and four were on offense.
While it was the two offensive line signings that drew most of the attention both locally and nationally, there has been a significant amount of change on defense. It appears the likes of Stefan Charles, Tyrunn Walker and Devin Taylor have been replaced by Akeem Spence, Jordan Hill and Cornelius Washington. In comes Paul Worrilow and the aforementioned Bellore; out goes Josh Bynes and DeAndre Levy.
Here’s a look at all of the new faces on Detroit’s defensive roster:

Today’s Question of the Day is:
Which of these six defensive signings was the best move for the Detroit Lions?
My answer: While none of these additions have me head over heels, I think I’m most excited to see what Cornelius Washington can do. Washington never did much with the Chicago Bears, but his skillset was a mismatch when the team hired John Fox and decided to switch to a 3-4 front. In Detroit, he should be a good fit as a rotational player that has above-average pass rushing skills and can even kick inside on occasional downs. Take, for example, this play that our own Ryan Mathews found in his detailed breakdown of Washington (lined up over the right guard):
I expect Washington to have the biggest positive impact of all six defensive players signed so far.
Your turn.
