Over the past two weeks, we’ve gathered reports from various sources regarding the undrafted free agents (UDFAs) the Detroit Lions have signed after the 2017 NFL Draft. Up until Friday, those reports were unofficial without confirmation from the team.
However, roughly an hour before the start of the team’s rookie minicamp, the Lions announced the signings of 14 UDFAs, all of which are now officially under contract and on the roster. Here are the UDFAs the Lions signed on Friday:
- TE Brandon Barnes
- DE Alex Barrett
- WR Dontez Ford
- RB Tion Green
- DT Nick James
- OL Leo Koloamatangi
- CB Des Lawrence
- OT Storm Norton
- WR Michael Rector
- DT Maurice Swain
- WR Michael Rector
- WR Noel Thomas
- CB Josh Thornton
- TE Robert Tonyan
- DE Jeremiah Valoaga
These UDFAs will compete alongside several unsigned players who were invited for a tryout during this weekend’s rookie minicamp, including running back Matt Asiata according to various reports. The three-day event begins today, Friday May 12 and runs through Sunday May 14.
