Say what you will about NFL Network’s Top 100 Players of 2017 list. “It’s a popularity contest,” or “their methods are shoddy,” or even this: “Who cares about player rankings?”
All of those are valid concerns. This isn’t a definitive list of the best players in the NFL, there’s no question about that. However, that doesn’t mean the list doesn’t have worth. It shows who players respect among their peers, and that respect can translate into how opponents treat them on the field or how they’ll vote for the Pro Bowl. The list isn’t gospel, but it isn’t trash, either.
So now that the list is over, I wanted to see which teams were getting the most respect by their peers. I categorized all 100 players by team to see which franchises showed up on the list most often. It won’t come as much of a surprise that a team like the Cowboys was near the top of the list, but there are some teams—like the Titans—that may surprise you.
For the sake of simplicity, players that changed teams this offseason, I placed them under their new 2017 team since this list is supposed to be for the upcoming season. So, for example, Adrian Peterson is under the Saints and LeGarrette Blount is under the Eagles.
