Jarrad Davis’ overall places him as the fifth-lowest rated first round draft pick in Madden NFL 18.

Training camp is right around the corner. Real, honest-to-goodness practice football is so close we can get in our cars and drive to Allen Park to get a glimpse of it.

In the meantime, while we wait for even some semblance of actual competitive action, a chance to get our thumbs on a pair of joysticks to play virtual football is less than a month away.

On Wednesday, the team over at EA Sports released the ratings for all of the rookies drafted in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft. Among the most highly-rated players were Myles Garrett (83 overall), O.J. Howard (82 overall), running backs Leonard Fournette (81 overall) and Christian McCaffrey (81 overall) and safety Jamal Adams (81 overall).

No real qualms with any of those numbers, but as I scrolled through a list sorted by overall, Jarrad Davis name was nowhere to be found. Nine players drafted after Davis in the 2017 NFL Draft have higher overall ratings in Madden NFL 18 than the former Florida Gators linebacker. David Njoku (78 overall), Reuben Foster (76 overall), and even the last pick of the first round, Ryan Ramczyk, scored a 78 overall—a full four overall points higher than Davis’ 74 overall rating.

That’s right, people. The #DISRESPECKT for Davis by the Madden folks is real. His 74 overall ranked him higher than just four other players who were drafted on Day 1 this year: T.J. Watt, Haason Reddick, Jonathan Allen, and Charles Harris.

Do I think this is uncalled for? Without a shadow of a doubt.

Oh, you didn’t know? Jarrad Davis is the next Ray Lewis.

Jarrad Davis will see his overall climb much like Taylor Decker’s 76 overall did from the beginning of last Madden season. If it doesn’t, what is going on over at EA Tiburon? Their headquarters is in Maitland, Florida, about two hours south of Gainesville. Take care of your own, guys!
