Two practices are in the books for Detroit Lions 2017 training camp and the hot takes are already flying off the shelves. Eric Ebron is completely washed. Teez Tabor is a bust. Kenny Golladay will be a rookie Pro Bowler. And the Lions left tackle situation is a dumpster fire—okay, that one may be true.
But while we’re all overreacting to minimal news, there have been plenty of Lions players we’ve heard almost nothing about. Part of that is because as of Monday, the Lions have not practiced with pads on. It’s pretty hard to judge play of linemen when the pads aren’t on yet.
According to Dave Birkett, the Lions will don the pads at Tuesday’s practice. That means we’ll get a good look at just about everyone on the field. With that in mind, today’s Question of the Day is:
Which Lions player do you want to hear more about from training camp on Tuesday?
My answer: Rick Wagner. While everyone is rightfully focused on the left tackle situation in Detroit, I want to know more about Wagner. Everyone is assuming that Wagner will be a wild success at right tackle, but if that’s really the case, why did the Ravens let him walk?
I believe Wagner is a good player, and I think he’ll be a mainstay on the Lions offensive line for years to come. But with the Lions on hook for a huge five-year, $47.5 million contract, I’d like to be assured that Wagner is going to be a good fit in Detroit.
Your turn.
