Training camp is the season of hype. Reports out of practice for all 32 teams tend to be overwhelmingly positive. With no scores to be kept or opponents to measure up against, every team looks absolutely amazing this time of year.
The Detroit Lions are no exception. Through eight practices, several Lions players have emerged as potential breakout players or future superstars. There are a couple players that have failed to impress or aren’t quite meeting expectations, but for the most part, optimism prevails.
So today’s Question of the Day is:
Which Detroit Lions player has you the most excited after one week of training camp practices?
My answer: There are so many possible answers here, but I have to go with the one guy outside of Matthew Stafford I think could have the biggest impact on the Lions’ 2017 season: rookie linebacker Jarrad Davis.
Davis hasn’t had the most impressive camp on the team. He isn’t even the most hyped player in the Lions’ 2017 draft class. However, the fact that Davis is already quarterbacking the defense and looks more than comfortable in the role has me very amped for this Lions defense.
There’s no question that the Lions have the most room to improve on that side of the ball, and improved linebacker play is essential for Detroit. Out of the thousands of tweets from reporters, fans and players at training camp, I think this simple one from Kent Lee Platte got me the most excited:
Jarrad Davis is good in coverage. That's a relief.

For a linebacker crew that was completely devoid of coverage abilities in 2016, yeah, that’s a huge relief.
Honorable mentions: Ameer Abdullah, Darren Fells, and, yes, Kenny Golladay.
Your turn.
