The Detroit Lions released their final injury report of the week on Friday and, as expected, a few players have already been declared out vs. the Atlanta Falcons.
Most notably, linebacker Jarrad Davis and safety Tavon Wilson will not play on Sunday. Davis has been recovering from a concussion suffered on Monday night. Although he was at practice all week, he did not participate at all. He is expected to be replaced by Tahir Whitehead in the middle, with either Paul Worrilow or Jalen Reeves-Maybin in Whitehead’s vacated spot on the weak side.
MIles Killebrew will step into the strong safety position against the Atlanta Falcons, likely making his first career NFL start. Killebrew has plenty of experience at the position, however, picking up 71 snaps through two weeks.
If there’s any good news from the injury report, it’s that the Lions left open the possibility of center Travis Swanson playing on Sunday. Although Swanson missed practice all week, he is listed as questionable with an ankle injury.
The Atlanta Falcons are hurting, too. They will be missing three starters this week, including premier pass rushers Vic Beasley Jr. and Courtney Upshaw. Additionally, Atlanta will be missing one of the best right tackles in the game, as Ryan Schraeder has not passed concussion protocol.
