Wednesday open thread: Will you be watching the Senior Bowl and/or Pro Bowl?

There are no official football games this weekend, but there are some big NFL events.

This is the first week in the NFL since August in which there will be no official games. It’s that lonely week in between Conference Championship Sunday and Super Bowl Sunday.

But over the years, the NFL has done a very good job to fill the void in between playoff games. Two big events are upcoming this weekend: the Senior Bowl and the Pro Bowl.

On Saturday, some of the best college players from the 2018 draft class will congregate in Mobile, Alabama to compete against each other in an exhibition football game. It’s a key part of the scouting process both for professionals and armchair general managers alike.

Then there’s the Pro Bowl on Sunday. It’s never a very entertaining game, yet it draws impressive ratings year after year. This year, the Detroit Lions will have two representatives in the game: T.J. Lang and Darius Slay.

So today’s Question of the Day is:

Will you be watching the Senior Bowl, the Pro Bowl, both or neither this weekend?

My answer: I will almost certainly be watching the Pro Bowl skills challenge on Thursday night, but I’m not sure I’ll be watching any of the other weekend events.

I’ll try to keep an eye on the Senior Bowl, and I’ll definitely consume all of the winners/losers posts afterwards, but the game itself can be hard to watch... especially to those like myself that don’t have NFL Network.

I’m not afraid to admit that I’m tempted to watch the Pro Bowl this year. While there’s no reason to get excited about Lang’s first appearance—offensive line play is completely boring in the Pro Bowl—I am a little intrigued about seeing Darius Slay play. You can tell Slay is extremely excited about the opportunity, and I don’t think he’s going to take the game lightly. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him pick up an interception on Sunday, which would be pretty cool for the Lions cornerback.

Your turn.
