VIDEO: Darius Slay calls his shot, predicts he’ll pick off Derek Carr at the Pro Bowl

Darius Slay has never been the modest type. The Detroit Lions’ All-Pro cornerback is not only confident on the field, but he backs up his words with the play to match.

His play in 2017 led him to the first Pro Bowl of his career, and he brought that swagger with him down to Orlando this week for the all-star game. The Detroit Lions have Slay mic’d up all week, and if you’ve ever heard Slay with a microphone, you know it’s must-see-tv.

You could tell during the season that making the Pro Bowl meant a lot to Slay, and he appears to be enjoying every minute of it thus far. Here are some highlights from the mic’d up session from Thursday:

  • Cardinals DB Budda Baker pretending to sell Airheads.
  • Slay making fun of Drew Brees for warming up too intensely during Pro Bowl practices.
  • “If I was playing receiver, man, I know I’d be making $90 mil.”
  • Slay playing WR in drills and getting mad that Adam Thielen is double-teaming him.

But the best part is when Slay’s confidence comes out. Speaking with Falcons safety Keanu Neal, Slay made himself a prediction for Sunday’s game. “Who they got at quarterback over there? They got Big Ben and who else?” Slay said. “Carr. Derek Carr. Oh yeah, he’s going to throw me one. I gotta have that.”

That’s right. Slay is calling his shot and predicting he’ll pick off Carr once during the Pro Bowl.

It wouldn’t be all that surprising considering that Carr is coming off his worst statistical season since his rookie year. His 13 interceptions in 2017 was the seventh-most in the NFL this season.

So if you didn’t have a reason to watch the Pro Bowl this Sunday, now you do. See if Slay lives up to his prediction at 3 p.m. ET on ESPN.
