People like to make fun of the Pro Bowl for being a waste of time, but one of the legitimately cool things about the event is getting different players from around the league and seeing how they act together. It’s fun to see who gets along with each other, hear what they have to say about each other, and then, of course, see how they play together.
Just watch this conversation between Jaguars corner Jalen Ramsey and Chargers corner Casey Hayward on who’s the best cornerback in the game:

For the second straight day, the Detroit Lions mic’d up cornerback Darius Slay for Friday’s set of practices. They also added a Go-Pro, to boot.

One of the cooler parts from the video comes while Slay is chatting with Vikings safety Harrison Smith during some down time. The conversation turned to Slay’s teammate, safety Glover Quin. Here’s a transcript of the conversation
Harrison Smith: “I thought GQ should’ve been here.”
Darius Slay: “Yeah.”
Smith: “He’s been awesome for a long time.”
Slay: “Long time.”
Smith: “There was this play—I think it was the Falcons—where he jumped a glance...
Slay: “We talked about that, though.”
Smith: “It was one of the best plays I’ve seen. We saw that on film and we were like, ‘WOO.’”
The play Smith is referring to is Quin’s outstanding pick-six against Matt Ryan back in Week 3:
(We broke down just how amazing this play was here.)
You could certainly make an easy argument for Quin having a Pro Bowl year in 2017. He finished with three interceptions and 84 tackles. He also had four forced fumbles, which was fourth among all NFL defenders and first among defensive backs. If PFF is your thing, Quin’s 89.0 overall grade was good for fourth among all safeties.
Instead of Quin, the safeties being represented for the NFC at the Pro Bowl are Earl Thomas, Keanu Neal and Harrison Smith. Landon Collins and Malcolm Jenkins were originally named to the Pro Bowl, but Collins is injured and Jenkins will be playing in the Super Bowl. Quin was named a fourth alternate for the game.
