NFL: Detroit Lions at Miami Dolphins Steve Mitchell-USA TODAY Sports

Here are the snap counts for the Detroit Lions’ Week 7 win over the Dolphins.

Offense:

Quarterbacks

Matthew Stafford: 64 (100%)

Running backs

Kerryon Johnson: 38 (59%)
LeGarrette Blount: 21 (33%)
Ameer Abdullah: 7 (11%) — 3 special teams snap (11%)

Fullbacks

Nick Bellore: 14 (22%) — 16 (59%)

Tight ends

Luke Willson: 41 (64%) — 11 (41%)
Levine Toilolo: 21 (33%) — 7 (26%)
Michael Roberts: 19 (30%)

Wide receivers

Marvin Jones Jr.: 56 (88%)
Kenny Golladay: 49 (77%)
Golden Tate: 46 (72%) — 3 (11%)
TJ Jones: 8 (12%) — 11 (41%)

Offensive tackles

Rick Wagner: 64 (100%) — 6 (22%)
Taylor Decker: 64 (100%) — 6 (22%)

Guards/centers

Graham Glasgow: 64 (100%) — 6 (22%)
Frank Ragnow: 64 (100%) — 6 (22%)
T.J. Lang: 48 (75%)
Kenny Wiggins: 16 (25%) — 6 (21%)

Observations:

  • First thing that jumps out is T.J. Lang getting a little bit of a reduced role. The team is clearly easing him in from his concussion suffered back in Week 4, and they took him off special teams, as well. It will be interesting to see if they continue to give him a limited role going forward or if this was just a one-off after the concussion scare.
  • Kerryon Johnson had his highest percentage of snaps played on Sunday at 59 percent. His previous high was 47 percent, so this was a significant boost in playing time, and he sure did make the most of it.
  • With Michael Roberts back in the lineup, Levine Toilolo saw the biggest decrease in snaps among tight ends. Luke Willson continues to dominate playing time among the position group.

Defense:

Defensive end

Romeo Okwara: 42 (73%)
Da’Shawn Hand: 41 (73%) — 5 (19%)
Eric Lee: 14 (25%)

Defensive tackle

Ricky Jean Francois: 21 (38%) — 4 (15%)
A’Shawn Robinson: 19 (34%) — 10 (37%)
Sylvester Williams: 15 (27%) — 3 (11%)

Linebackers

Devon Kennard: 51 (91%) — 5 (19%)
Jarrad Davis: 51 (91%) — 5 (19%)
Christian Jones: 26 (46%) — 11 (41%)
Jalen Reeves-Maybin: 8 (14%) — 15 (56%)
Eli Harold: 1 (2%) — 3 (11%)
Trevor Bates: 0 (0%) — 16 (59%)

Cornerbacks

Nevin Lawson: 55 (98%) — 6 (22%)
Teez Tabor: 54 (96%) — 11 (41%)
Darius Slay: 51 (91%) — 5 (19%)
DeShawn Shead: 5 (9%) — 16 (59%)
Cre’Von LeBlanc: 0 (0%) — 11 (41%)

Safety

Quandre Diggs: 56 (100%) — 2 (7%)
Glover Quin: 55 (98%) — 5 (19%)
Tavon Wilson: 33 (59%) — 2 (7%)
Tracy Walker: 18 (32%) — 16 (59%)
Miles Killebrew: 0 (0%) — 21 (78%)
Charles Washington: 0 (0%) — 16 (59%)

Observations:

  • The Lions went light on the front seven this week, as they focused on defending the Dolphins’ talented receiving corps. Only two defensive linemen played more than half the game, while six defensive backs played at least 59 percent of the snaps.
  • Sylvester Williams was back and part of the gameplan. Last week, he only played a single defensive play; this week he was back up to 15. Still, he’s way behind Robinson and Francois in playing time.
  • Tracy Walker saw a significant uptick in special teams snaps, perhaps due to the injury to Jamal Agnew.
  • TEEZ TABOR PLAYED MORE SNAPS THAN DARIUS SLAY. IS THERE A BATTLE BREWING FOR THE NO. 1 CORNERBACK JOB? (of course there isn’t).

Special teams

Sam Martin: 15 (56%)
Don Muhlbach: 7 (26%)
Matt Prater: 6 (22%)
