The Detroit Lions are apparently making a very aggressive move prior to next week’s trade deadline. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Lions are sending a fifth-round pick for New York Giants defensive tackle Damon Harrison.
More deals: Now the Giants are trading DT Damon Harrison to the Detroit Lions for a fifth-round pick, sources tell ESPN.

The Lions have needed help along the defensive line all year. Their run defense is among the worst in the league, and although they have shown signs of improving, they’re still obviously prone to giving up big plays.
“Snacks” Harrison has been a monster throughout his career at defending the run. The 2016 All Pro was named Pro Football Focus’ top run defender last year. Already, he’s picked up where he left off; he’s currently the No. 6 graded PFF interior defender and No. 4 against the run.
Paired with the emerging rookie Da’Shawn Hand, the Lions now have a pretty solid duo of interior defenders. You have to wonder, though, what this means for Sylvester Williams, who has seen his playing time decrease throughout the year.
The Lions have yet to confirm the trade nor announce a corresponding move.
