NFL Week 5 predictions: Staff picks for Detroit Lions vs. Green Bay Packers

Our staff makes their predictions for the Lions’ Week 5 game.

NFL: Green Bay Packers at Detroit Lions Raj Mehta-USA TODAY Sports

The Detroit Lions have been anything but predictable through the first month of the season. They dropped an absolute egg in Week 1 of the season against a Jets team that appears to be exactly who they thought we would be. Just a few weeks a later, staring down 0-3 like the barrel of a gun, the Lions blew the Patriots out on “Sunday Night Football.”

As a result of this bipolar team, our staff’s predictions have been... well... bad through four weeks. No one on staff has a winning record, and only four are even .500 with their picks. To be fair, though, the fans in our FanPulse survey are 0-4, so perhaps our staff is being a little more objective than the average fan.

You should always take predictions with a grain of salt in the NFL, but maybe that grain should be even smaller for this Lions team.

All that being said, Pride of Detroit is split this week on the outcome. Seven are picking the Packers, six are picking the Lions, and one—Chris, of course—is picking a tie. Here’s a look.

Kent Lee Platte (2-2): 28-7 Packers
Chris Perfett (2-2): 10-10 tie
Andrew Kato (2-2): No pick
Jeremy Reisman (2-2): 27-26 Packers
Kellie Rowe (1-2): 24-21 Lions
Hamza Baccouche (1-3): 26-24 Lions
Justin Simon (1-3): 22-20 Lions
Kyle Yost (1-3): 24-21 Packers
John Whiticar (1-3): 26-23 Packers
Mike Payton (1-3): 19-14 Lions
Levi Blue (1-3): 20-17 Packers
Jerry Mallory (1-3): 30-24 Packers
Alex Reno (1-3): 32-3 Lions
Ryan Mathews (1-3): 17-14 Lions
Mansur Shaheen (0-4): 100-0 Packers
FanPulse (0-4): Packers by 2

Now it’s time for you to make your pick. In the poll below choose the winner, then put your score prediction in the comment section. Closest to the actual score gets a shoutout in next (next) week’s preview.
