The 12th man will have significant ramifications Monday night as the Minnesota Vikings travel west to take on the Seattle Seahawks at CenturyLink Field. The Seahawks and Vikings enter Monday night’s matchup holding the fifth and sixth seeds in the NFC playoff race, respectively.

The Minnesota Vikings have underperformed thus far in the season, as they were expected to be a powerhouse in the NFC but are sitting on the fringe of the playoff picture instead. A loss tonight would stick them in the middle of the hunt for the last spot, and really open things up for other NFC teams trying to sneak in.

The Seahawks are trending in the other direction. Expected to falter after losing a slew of star players, Pete Carroll & Co. have made the most of this season and turned around a slow start to put themselves in the thick of the fight for the postseason. A win today would put them at 8-5 and generate some solid distance between them and the teams in the hunt.

For what it’s worth, with the Seahawks holding the tiebreaker over the Lions, a Seahawks win over the Vikings Monday night would be a good step in the right direction for the Lions’ postseason hopes.

How will Monday night unfold? Can the Vikings defense make Russell Wilson uncomfortable? Can Russell Wilson find a way to carve up the Vikings secondary? Let us know what you think in the comments.
