It probably came as a surprise to most, but when Darius Slay picked off Josh Rosen and took it to the house, it was the first time the Detroit Lions cornerback notched an NFL touchdown. That effort, along with his two other pass breakups, was enough to earn him NFC Defensive Player of the Week honors for Week 14.

According to the Lions, this was the third time Slay has won the award. The last time he won the award was almost exactly a year ago, when he picked off Mitchell Trubisky twice in Week 15. The other time was when he picked off rookie Carson Wentz for the game-sealing interception back in 2015.
Slay becomes the first Lions player to win weekly honors for the 2018 season, but this wasn’t the only honors the Lions All-Pro corner received this week. He was also named to Pro Football Focus’ Team of the Week thanks to his impressive 92.5 grade against the Cardinals.
Congrats to Big Play Slay!
