Friday open thread: Which young NFL star is the most fun to watch right now?

New, comments

The league is chock-full of young stars at the moment, which do you like watching the most?

NFL: Los Angeles Chargers at Kansas City Chiefs Denny Medley-USA TODAY Sports

Last night we saw Kansas City Chiefs starlet quarterback Patrick Mahomes put together another magical performance as his team fell just short against the Los Angeles Chargers on “Thursday Night Football.” The 23-year-old quarterback is still in his first season as a starter and is already in the MVP conversation.

Mahomes was not the only young star on the field last night, though. Chargers safety Derwin James is the front runner for Defensive Rookie of the Year as he has been one of the league’s best players in his first NFL season. Chargers edge rusher Joey Bosa, who has been on a tear since returning from injury a few weeks ago, was shining as well. Second-year receiver Mike Williams had a huge day as well, scoring three touchdowns and eventually winning the crucial game for his team.

Thursday Night Football this week featured just a handful of the league’s exciting talent that is spread all over the league. So today we ask:

What young player in the NFL do you enjoy watching the most?

There are two potential options on the Detroit Lions roster. Rookie running back Kerryon Johnson was electric before he was sidelined with knee injury. He was the most efficient running back the team has had since Barry Sanders, and he managed to eclipse the 100-yard mark twice after it felt like the team was destined never to. He was the Lions star for the first half of the season.

Another candidate would be Kenny Golladay. The receiver erupted on to the scene last season with a huge game against the Arizona Cardinals to start out his 2017 rookie campaign. He then followed that up with a great start to the 2018 season. The receiver was the only good thing the offense had in the early stages of the season and his ability to make big plays on jump balls has put him on a lot of highlight reels so far in his short career.

With players like Kenny Golladay and Kerryon Johnson joining the likes of Darius Leonard, Saquon Barkley and Jared Goff who are also younger players who have taken the league by storm in 2018. With so much exciting, dynamic young talent in the league right now, who do you enjoy watching the most?
