The end is nigh.

We aren’t quite at the finish line yet, but the Detroit Lions face off against the Minnesota Vikings this week for their penultimate game.

For the Vikings, it’s a shot to maintain their lead in the Wild Card race over Washington and Philly. That’s a win they’ll likely need, because next week they have an impressive Chicago Bears team that has already beaten the Vikings once.

The Lions, on the other hand, are playing for the Pride of Detroit (wink). At 5-9 for the season, they’re already guaranteed to miss the playoffs, they’re already guaranteed to have a losing record, and they’re already guaranteed to finish third or fourth in the division.

It’s a harsh reality for Lions fans that were hoping the Matt Patricia era would bring about an immediate jump into relevancy, instead of years of meddling around the middle of the league. But instead of playoff wins, Lions fans are left to dream of top five draft picks again. It’s a disappointing reality, but here we are.

Anyways, come chat during the first half here, and happy holidays, you wonderful, patient fanbase.
