I don’t think we’re telling any tales out of school when we say that Week 17’s regular season finale between the Green Bay Packers and the Detroit Lions doesn’t have much intrigue on its surface.

So this week, First Byte is taking a slightly different approach to our preview podcast. We snagged Evan “Tex” Western from Acme Packing Company to help diagnose what went wrong for the Green Bay Packers this season, but who doesn’t love hearing stories about how the Packers failed?

Additionally, the Packers are already in the midst of a head coaching search, and one early candidate should certainly interest Lions fans. We get Tex’s thoughts on Jim Caldwell as a realistic candidate for the Packers job.

This week on First Byte

  • Aaron Rodgers: Tough year or overblown media scrutiny?
  • Was firing Mike McCarthy the right decision? In the middle of season?
  • Who are the top candidates for the Packers job? Dream candidates?
  • The gang discusses the merits of Jim Caldwell as a head coach candidate.
  • We turn our attention to the What Is Life? Bowl. Who are some players to look forward to seeing play? Is Davante Adams going to play? Why are we doing this to ourselves?
