Sunday Night Football open thread: Colts at Titans

NFL: Tennessee Titans at Indianapolis Colts Thomas J. Russo-USA TODAY Sports

The 2018 NFL regular season is almost through, but there is one more important game to be had. The Indianapolis Colts and the Tennessee Titans will face off on Sunday night for the final spot in the AFC playoffs.

The Colts are hot, having won eight of their last nine games, including three in a row. Andrew Luck is looking like the stud that everyone thought he was before injuries derailed his career, and thanks to an impressive offensive line, it doesn’t look like they’ll stop anytime soon.

The Titans are just as hot. They’ve won six of their last eight including four in a row. However, they’re faced with the unfortunate task of winning the most important game of the season without their starting quarterback. Marcus Mariota is inactive due to injury, which means it’s Blaine Gabbert’s job to take the Titans to the postseason.

Normally, I wouldn’t have a rooting interest in an AFC matchup, but there is an outcome so glorious that I can’t help but root for it.

If the Titans and Colts manage to play for 70 minutes and end up tied... the Pittsburgh Steelers would slide into the final AFC playoff spot. That is the kind of chaos I can get behind.
