The Detroit Lions did not have a full practice on Wednesday, opting to start the practice week with a walkthrough in their preparations for Week 14’s game against the Arizona Cardinals. When you take a look at their injury report, it’s pretty easy to see why
New on the injury this week is quarterback Matthew Stafford, who is listed with a back injury following a tough game against the Rams. After the game, Stafford insisted he was fine, and he was still listed as “limited” in Wednesday’s practice, so there’s probably not a big chance he’ll miss Sunday’s game.
Also new to the injury list is linebacker Devon Kennard, who left Sunday’s game against the Rams early with a hip injury. He was a non-participant in Wednesday’s walkthrough. Kenny Golladay is dealing with a quad injury, and, yes, Ezekiel Ansah is back on the injury report with a neck injury. Both were limited.
Unfortunately for Detroit, this doesn’t appear to be the week they’ll get running back Kerryon Johnson back in the game. Johnson suffered a knee injury against the Panthers over two weeks ago, and has not returned to practice. Though LeGarrette Blount has performed admirably over the past two games in his place (149 rushing yards, 4.26 YPC), Johnson has been one of the most exciting players on the Lions roster this season. Despite not playing in the past two games, Johnson still ranks 20th in rushing yards (641), and fourth in yards per carry (5.4).
In good news, it looks like Michael Roberts will be back this week. He was listed as a full participant. Here’s a look at the entire injury report.
