When the Detroit Lions released their four new uniforms back in April, it brought a lot of excitement. Many were eager to see the Lions finally sport a color rush jersey on the field. Others were psyched about the throwback uniforms coming back. Some were just thrilled about blue pants.
But seeing the uniforms on mannequins is one thing. Seeing them in practice was another. At first, there was some consternation about the numbering on the blue jerseys, seeing as there didn’t appear to be enough color contrast to clearly see who was out there. Then the Lions messed around for a Sunday night game and came out with a new blue-on-blue combo uniform to mixed reviews. Overall, however, the feedback was overwhelmingly positive.
Back in April, the most popular uniform among fans was the grey color rush, which received 39 percent of the vote. After a year, let’s check back and see what you think about them after seeing them in action. Today’s Question of the Day is:
Which of the Lions’ new uniform combinations was your favorite from 201?
My answer: The classic away set up was my favorite. While I’m not typically a fan of white jerseys (except for the Red Wings’ classic home jerseys), something about the combination with those awesome blue pants really makes it pop. I specifically remember the excitement of seeing those uniforms for the first time as the Lions warmed up for the final preseason game against the Bills.
For whatever reason they just worked for me. They came in as one of my least favorite after the April presentation, but by the end of the season they were my favorite. I’m still not that big of a fan of the jersey alone, but combined with the blue pants it was the best uniform the Lions had to offer in 2017.
