The Detroit Lions have missed out on another free agency target. According to Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times, defensive tackle Beau Allen is expected to sign with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers:

As of now, Allen is the only defensive linemen the Lions have been rumored to be interested in. With Haloti Ngata expected to sign with the Eagles, that leaves the Detroit Lions’ defensive tackle cupboard extremely bare. At this point, only A’Shawn Robinson and Akeem Spence are worthy of real playing time in 2018.

Of course, there are a still a few big name defensive linemen out there in free agency. Falcons defensive tackle Dontari Poe has been sitting quietly in free agency, and a certain boy named Suh is expected to be on the market once free agency opens later on Wednesday.

The Lions had issues with defensive line depth in 2017, shuffling through 17 different players throughout the entire season. They’re well on their way to having the same problem in 2018, but free agency is still very young, and there’s always the draft.
