Rams mock draft: Los Angeles selects EDGE Sam Hubbard

The Rams would have a hell of a defensive line if this happens.

Okay, here’s where things get a little wacky. When we started this mock draft, the Los Angeles Rams had the 23rd overall pick. I had already assigned commenter MetalHead to be the general manager for the Rams in our Pride of Detroit Community Mock Draft. But then the Rams went ahead and traded away the 23rd pick to the Patriots as part of the deal that landed them Brandin Cooks.

Because the Rams don’t have a second round pick, I didn’t think it was fair to MetalHead to hand the pick over to the Patriots, leaving him with nothing to do in the mock draft. So in my infinite kindness, I decided to let him keep the pick as the general manager of the Rams, essentially pretending that the trade never even happened. Maybe it makes the mock draft a little less accurate, but let’s not take this thing too seriously.

Anyways, MetalHead responded to my kindness by making his pick then going completely MIA when I asked for his write-up. Follow up emails were made. No response. I messaged him on Pride of Detroit (did you know I can do that?). No response.

Unfortunately, by the time I realized he wasn’t going to provide a rationalization for the pick, the mock draft had already proceeded several picks, and I couldn’t go back and give the pick to the Patriots.

So with the 23rd pick in the POD Community Mock, the Rams have selected Ohio State edge defender Sam Hubbard.

Here’s my write-up on the pick.

Whoa. Another defensive lineman next to Ndamukong Suh and Aaron Donald. Cool.

What grade do you give this pick?
